Our Approach to Service
At Charleswood Roofing, we believe that undertaking the difficult small tasks that are often overlooked by other roofing companies is key to our ability to provide ongoing premium service to our customers. Our service department has become an integral part of our company.
Troubleshooting is an extremely detailed process. This is why we dispatch a service technician to your problem and undertake to find a solution for you. We have spent decades between our staff members developing keen understandings of roof systems and building envelope troubleshooting. This kind of experience is valuable to you—it has taken considerable learning experience to be able to arrive at your home and be confident in giving you an answer.
Understanding Water Intrusion
One of the most common complaints from a customer regarding their roof is water coming in. This is also one of the scarier things that a homeowner can experience. Generally speaking, we want to live under our dry roofs, without having to worry too much about them. When water starts presenting in the home, you want answers—and we want to be the company that you choose to provide you with the correct ones.
Water can enter your home in a number of ways. Rain, snow, ice, and condensation can all cause water to present itself in unwanted places. One of the more common requests we get is for "leaks" in the spring melt. These "leaks" are, in fact, very frequently associated with condensation—far more commonly than a failure of the roofing system.

Common Causes
What Causes Condensation Buildup?
Condensation buildup in a home can happen in many different ways. Understanding the root cause is key to a lasting solution.
Vapour Barrier Deficiency
A lack of or deficiency in the vapour barrier allows warm, moist air to penetrate into the attic space where it condenses on cold surfaces.
Insufficient Insulation
When insulation is inadequate, heat escapes into the attic, creating temperature differentials that promote condensation formation.
Lack of Airflow
Insufficient supply air from the soffits (entry air) or inadequate exhaust through the higher vents (exit air) traps moisture in the attic space.
Unsealed Ceiling Fixtures
Pot lights, range hood fans, bathroom exhaust fans, and other ceiling fixtures that are not properly sealed or vented allow moisture to migrate upward.

When there is water dripping in through your kitchen light fixture, you want to know that the solution presented to you is going to be carefully thought-out and addressed in a way that you won't have to worry about it again. This is where our expertise shines.
